The Hyderabad-Karnataka Education Society (HKES) has upgraded the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital in Kalaburagi with over ₹5 crore worth of advanced medical equipment, giving the institution a major boost in emergency, surgical and critical care services.

Addressing a press conference after inaugurating the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the hospital complex in Kalaburagi on November 21, HKES president Shashil G. Namoshi said that the Emergency Department has already begun functioning. Due to the rising number of outpatients, a new 40,000 sq. ft. emergency care facility is being developed on the fourth floor of the hospital. He stated that Basaveshwar Hospital currently provides nearly 95% of its healthcare services free of cost, benefiting thousands of patients from the Kalyana Karnataka region.

Mr. Namoshi listed out the newly installed equipment, including high-end operation tables, anaesthesia machines, advanced electro-surgical generators, modern OT lights, minimally invasive modular operating workstations, multi-parameter monitors, ECG and ABG machines, ventilators, syringe pumps, ultrasound machines and sterilisation systems. The upgrade also covers an extensive range of diagnostic and support equipment such as ophthalmic testing devices, laboratory centrifuges, incubators, laminar air flow systems, microscopes, portable X-ray units, radiofrequency units, blood bank devices and a central monitoring system. These additions significantly enhance the hospital’s surgery, diagnostic and critical care capabilities, Mr. Namoshi expressed.

He said that the Society has also focused on strengthening academic and training facilities. The institution has doubled the intake of nursing seats from 100 to 200. Additionally, 150 skilled nursing staff has already been recruited, with more appointments underway to meet increasing healthcare demands and also a new Cath Lab is expected to become operational within the next 7–8 months, Mr. Namoshi said, and added that a sum of ₹50 lakh has been allocated annually for outsourced sanitation services to ensure better hygiene and patient care at Basaveshwar hospital.

HKES Vice-President Raja B. Bhimalli, Secretary Udaykumar Chincholi were present.
