9,977 candidates file nominations in Kozhikode district

A total of 9,977 candidates filed their nomination papers as the nomination filing process for the forthcoming local body polls concluded in Kozhikode district on Friday (November 21, 2025). The scrutiny of the papers will be held on Saturday (November 22, 2025). Nominations can be withdrawn till Monday (November 24, 2025).

The candidates, along with their election agents, nominator, and a representative shall attend the scrutiny session.

Requests to withdraw nominations shall be submitted to the returning officer by 3 p.m. on Monday, following which the final list of candidates will be published. The names will be published in Malayalam alphabetical order. The list will have the names of candidates, addresses, and the symbols allotted to them.

Major political fronts in the district have finalised their lists of candidates for the polls. The candidates have already launched campaigns in their respective localities.

Meanwhile, anti-defacement cells and squads have been activated in the district to check defacement during campaigns. The public can call 94470-50514 to report violations of the model code of conduct and 94467-00800 to report violation of the green protocol.
