Accused cannot take advantage of delay: Additional Solicitor General for Delhi Police
Appearing for Delhi Police, Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju argues that the accused cannot take advantage of delay.
Based on the individual facts of a case, the Court need not grant bail even if there is a delay. The Court can direct expeditious trial instead, argues the ASG.
“In the Delhi riots case, the prosecution is even better placed to argue against bail as the delay in trial is caused by the accused persons themselves,” Mr. Raju says.
