Three youth died and one is in critical condition after they inhaled carbon monoxide from a charcoal stove in their room in Belagavi on Tuesday.

While Rehan Motte, 22, Moheen Nalaband, 23, and, Sarfaraj Harapanahalli, 22, died of suffocation, Shah Nawaz, 19, has been admitted to hospital.

According to the police, the four had lit the stove to heat up the room as they were feeling cold. The fire and smoke in the enclosed room reduced the oxygen and emanated carbon monoxide. They died in their sleep, police said.

MLA Asif (Raju) Sait visited the families. The Malmaruti police registered a case.
