The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday (September 11, 2025) alleged that the “script and dialogue” for Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s ‘vote chori’ campaign came from abroad and was aimed at creating a “trust deficit” in the country’s democracy.

The Congress dismissed the BJP’s allegations as “ridiculous”.

“It comes just as Shri @RahulGandhi is leading the charge against the BJP’s Vote Chori carried out with the Election Commission’s complicity. Is this a veiled attempt to intimidate the Leader of Opposition, who has already announced another imminent disclosure?” Congress leader Pawan Khera posted on X.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said that there was “undeniable” technical proof that a recent power-point presentation by Mr. Gandhi to allege vote theft had been created abroad. He accused Mr. Gandhi of peddling a foreign agenda of interfering with “Bharat’s democracy”.

Mr. Poonawalla said that at a time when floods have ravaged Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Gandhi preferred travelling overseas rather than visiting the affected States.

Quoting media reports, he said the Congress leader violated security protocol whenever he went overseas and said the Central Reserve Police Force and security agencies have raised concerns about it.

The BJP leader said that Mr. Gandhi held the responsible post of Leader of Opposition and accused him of not trusting his own security agencies and not taking security personnel along to keep his meetings abroad a ‘secret’.
