A 25-year-old city-based advocate who was out on a walk with her pet dog was allegedly harassed by an unidentified man near Upkaar Layout in Jnanabharathi Police Station limits on Friday night.
According to the complaint, the victim was approached by an unidentified man requesting permission to pet the animal. As several people often interacted with the dog in a similar manner, she allowed him.
While petting the dog, the man began talking to her, but moments later, he suddenly attempted to touch her inappropriately. The woman objected strongly. When he tried to touch her again, she pushed him away and slapped him. As she raised an alarm, the man fled from the spot. In the commotion, her mobile phone reportedly fell which he picked up and escaped.
By the time nearby residents gathered, the accused had fled the scene.
The woman later filed a complaint at the Jnanabharathi police station on Saturday. An FIR has been registered against the unidentified man, charging him under Sections 74, 75, 303, and 115 of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023. They are analysing CCTV camera footage from nearby areas to identify the accused.
