Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s ambitious goal of exporting flying cars and drone taxis from the State in two years has received positive response from the Precision Products and Aerospace component manufacturing firm JK Maini of Raymond Group. The firm claims that it already has all the necessary component manufacturing needed for flying cars.

Mr. Naidu at the 30th CII Partnership Summit said that the State will be exporting drone taxis and flying cars in two years and the plan is in progress. He visualised a great future for flying car manufacturing in near future and wanted the industries to tap the potential.

Gautam Maini, MD of JK Maini Global Aerospace and Maini Group, on the side lines of MoU signing ceremony with the A.P. government, said that the company is the supplier of critical engineering and aerospace components to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and has all potential to explore the possibility of flying car manufacturing.

Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Gautam Maini said, “We are the long-time suppliers of engineering and aerospace components to OEMs across the world and are aiming to venture into advanced aerospace segment. We are already making all the components needed for flying cars. We are just waiting for the suitable policy from the State and Central governments so that the manufacturing plan can be furthered.”

For record, the company is already into EV manufacturing segment and made its first EV Reva electric car in the year 2000. Raymond Group, along with its subsidiaries Maini Group and JK Files, having interests in textiles, engineering components and aerospace, has signed an MoU with the A.P. government to set up an Aerospace park and manufacturing facility in Anantapur with an estimated investment of over ₹900 crore on Saturday (November 15, 2025).

The State government is reportedly working on a policy for drone manufacturing and planning a 300 acre drone city in Orvakallu in Kurnool for R&D and manufacturing. According to sources, the government encouraging several start-ups in this direction, has offered incentives such as capital subsidy and waiver of SGST.

The A.P.-based drone taxi making start-up Magnum Wings has recently tested its two seater prototype and is developing working models for commercial use in India. The company has already made a presentation to the A.P. government in this regard. As per information from the founder of the company, Chava Abhiram, the two seater electric model is designed for urban traffic, and can fly at 100 kmph speed with 40 km range, while its altitude can go up to 1,000 feet. Work is on to triple the capacity of the prototype.
