Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday inaugurated the modernised Periyar Nagar library-cum-‘Mudhalvar Padaippagam,’ a co-working hub at Kolathur, developed by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) at a cost of ₹5.24 crore under the North Chennai Development Scheme.

According to an official press release, the modernised facility includes air-conditioned library halls, training rooms, 70,000 books, e-learning facilities, among  other features. The Mudhalvar Padaippagam was first launched on November 4, 2024, at Jaganathan Street in Kolathur and has since received strong patronage from students and competitive exam aspirants.

Through ‘Mudhalvar Padaippagam,’ a total of 4,489 budding entrepreneurs, most of them women, have benefitted.

The CMDA is currently working to establish 27 ‘Mudhalvar Padaippagam’ across the city, in addition to the existing ones, the release said.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed building for the Periyamedu Sub-Registrar Office built at a cost of ₹3.86 crore.
