As the Chittapur tahsildar permitted the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to hold its route march in Chittapur town on November 16 by imposing certain conductions, the High Court of Karnataka on Thursday disposed of a petition, which had questioned the tahsildar’s decision to reject permission for the march originally scheduled for October 18.
Justice M.G.S. Kamal disposed of the petition filed by Ashok Patil, convener of the RSS route march, Chittapur, by recording the statement that permission had been granted.
Earlier, State Advocate-General K. Shashi Kiran Shetty told the court that permission had been granted with certain conditions.
While appreciating the permission granted by the Kalaburagi district administration, senior advocate Aruna Shyam said that it was granted for the participation of only 300 persons while requesting that it may be increased to 600 apart from increasing the participation of persons in the band from 25 to 50.
Mr. Shyam said that the RSS is conducting the route march to celebrate its centenary year.
However, the A-G said that permission for 300 had been granted taking note of the participation of 100 to 150 persons in the march conducted in nearby areas. However, the A-G agreed to allow 50 persons in the band instead of 25.
Recording these statements, the court disposed of the petition.
