The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday (November 13, 2025) announced a hike in the dearness allowance (DA) for State government employees and teachers, aligning it with the rate announced by the Union government.

According to an official release, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has ordered an increase in the DA from the existing 55% to 58%, with effect from July 1, 2025. The revision will benefit around 16 lakh government staff, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners across the State. The hike will result in an additional annual expenditure of ₹1,829 crore for the State government, the release added.
