DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday (November 11, 2025) said stopping the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the State “remains our foremost duty”. The DMK and its allies staged demonstrations State-wide against the SIR on Tuesday.

“On one hand, there is a legal and ground-level struggle against the danger posed by the SIR, which threatens to snatch away the right to vote that underpins democracy. On the other, a war room and helpline have been launched to prevent irregularities in the SIR process that has already begun,” Mr. Stalin said in a post on X.

“The party cadres of the Secular Progressive Alliance have taken to the streets today [November 11, 2025], carrying placards and raising slogans in protest against the grave threat of the SIR. Let us continue our efforts and protect our people’s right to vote,” he added.
