Alleging that the ruling Congress is indulging in malpractices to win the Jubilee Hills bypoll, a BRS delegation led by MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao met with Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana, C. Sudharshan Reddy and lodged a formal complaint against the Congress. The BRS leaders accused the Congress of distributing fake voter IDs, cash and gifts to voters to influence the polls.

Speaking to the media after meeting the CEO on Monday, Mr. Harish Rao said they had also submitted video and photo evidence to the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging that the Congress was indulging in large-scale voter bribery, including distributing liquor, money, sarees, and mixi-grinders. They requested the EC to take action against officials abusing their power and deploy Central forces in sensitive polling booths.

“We have even lodged multiple complaints on the C-Vigil App and also shared the evidence with officials over WhatsApp. Yet, no visible action has been taken,” he said.

Mr. Harish Rao said that the CEO had assured them that action would be taken against officials found guilty of misconduct. “We have urged the EC authorities to deploy Central forces in sensitive polling booths, appoint women police personnel and ASHA, Anganwadi workers to ensure strict voter identity verification to prevent impersonation,” he added.

The BRS delegation alleged that the Congress was exploiting its power and resources to influence the Jubilee Hills byelection, pointing to a polling booth set up adjacent to a Congress office as evidence.
