Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday (November 10, 2025) said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is being used as a “political weapon” against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), but it will “never work in Tamil Nadu” where the party is in power.

“Our enemies use the Income Tax [Department] and CBI [Central Bureau of Investigation] to threaten us. Now they have taken up the SIR as a weapon to destroy the DMK. It may work in other States, but as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, with the DMK here, it will never work,” Mr. Stalin said.

He was speaking at the wedding of the son of M. Palaniyandi, MLA representing Srirangam constituency at Somarasampettai in Tiruchi.

Mr. Stalin said the DMK was not merely a political party but “a movement in constant motion.” “Whether we are in power or not, our iyakkam (movement) never stops. Everyone knows how active we are,” he said, referring to his ongoing constituency-wise review meetings under the Udanpirappe Vaa initiative. “I have reviewed 80 constituencies so far, and will complete all of them soon,” he added.

Referring to the DMK’s protest against SIR scheduled for Tuesday (November 11), Mr. Stalin accused the AIADMK of “enacting a drama of deceit” by approaching the Supreme Court to implead in the case already filed by the DMK on Sunday.

“If they were truly concerned, they should have opposed it earlier,” he said.’

The AIADMK was supporting the SIR initiative along with the BJP and the Election Commission. “Whatever the BJP and the Commission say, the AIADMK supports it,” he remarked, adding that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami had “no choice but to nod to the ‘big boss’ in Delhi.”
