A book on CPI (M) leader late Battula Bhishma Rao, who championed the cause of Adivasis and other marginalised sections in Bhadrachalam division, was released at a meeting held in Bhadrachalam town on Wednesday evening to mark his 40th death anniversary.

The book, written by his wife Battula Hymavathi, who is presently the CPI (M) State committee member, encapsulates Bhishma Rao’s illustrious life and his legacy of struggle and sacrifice, the party sources said.

Bhishma Rao was murdered by the then People’s War Group (PWG) Naxalites in Bhadrachalam Agency on November 5, 1985.

CPI (M) central committee member Tammineni Veerabhadram, Telangana State secretary John Wesley, State secretariat member P. Sudarshan Rao and Ms. Hymavathi, among others, were present on the occasion.

They paid glowing tributes to Bhishma Rao and remembered him.
