The Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed the State government to furnish within two weeks the report of the ‘expert committee’ constituted by the latter to probe in the Sigachi factory explosion which resulted in the death of 46 persons and left 28 more injured.

A bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, hearing a PIL petition over the explosion in Sigachi factory at Patancheru reported on this July 1, directed the government to file an affidavit explaining the progress of the investigation into the case in addition to the details of the compensation paid to the families of the persons died and injured in the blast.

The bench wanted the government to specifically mention the information like if the compensation was paid as per the statutory provisions or as per the undertaking of the company as mentioned in the counter affidavit furnished before it earlier. The PIL plea was filed by a retired scientist K. Babu Rao seeking a direction to the government to award compensation of ₹1 crore to each of the persons died in Sigachi factory blast.

Advocate Vasudha Nagaraj presented arguments on behalf of the petitioner.
