The stretch on the notorious Hebbal flyover is filled with potholes and has turned into a bad stretch, becoming a hurdle for vehicles to navigate the stretch, observed Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao. He instructed officials to immediately asphalt the entire flyover again, during an inspection on Tuesday.

Traffic congestion and water logging on Ballari Road was his main focus during the inspection of several areas in Bengaluru North City Corporation on Tuesday. He instructed civic officials, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials to coordinate and implement measures to ease traffic congestion on the stretch.

He directed BMRCL officials to clear debris from sites where metro work is completed to make way for traffic. He also directed NHAI officials to provide more entry and exit points between the main carriageway and service roads to ease congestion. But he said all such entry and exit points should have road signages to help commuters navigate.

Given that traffic police have barricaded the service road and the main carriageway at Byatarayanapura, it has become difficult for pedestrians to cross the busy highway, Mr. Rao noted, and asked officials to consider building a skywalk at the junction. However, there is already a flyover at this junction.

He directed officials to build and desilt drains where they exist to prevent water logging of roads at Bagalur, Yelahanka railway bridge, Raitara Sante and Kodigehalli Main Road.
