Kochi international book fest begins

The 28th Kochi International Book Festival began at Ernakulathappan ground here on Saturday.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel lit the lamp to mark the beginning of the festival. West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose received the ‘Malayalaratnam Puraskaram’ from her. She also released 14 of his works by handing over copies to Mayor M. Anilkumar, according to a release.

M.J. Akbar, writer and former Union Minister, inaugurated the art and cultural programmes held as part of the fest. Writer K.L. Mohana Varma delivered the message of the fest. Mr. Bose inaugurated the programme commemorating the birth centenary of poet Akkitham, the release said.
