The first batch of 115 newly-recruited Excise officers, including Assistant Excise Superintendents (AES) and Sub-Inspectors of Excise (SIS), began their six-month foundational training at the Excise Academy on Saturday (November 1, 2025).

The group includes 31 AES candidates selected through the TSPSC Group-I examination and 84 SIS candidates recruited through Group-II. The trainees formally reported to the academy following certificate verification for recruits from both the Warangal and Hyderabad zones.

All newly appointed officers had received their appointment letters from Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, marking the official start of their service under the state’s Prohibition and Excise Department.

Prohibition and Excise Commissioner C. Hari Kiran directed that all new recruits undergo a comprehensive six-month training programme designed to build administrative, field, and enforcement capabilities. The training will include modules on excise law enforcement, intelligence gathering, operations management, and coordination with other law enforcement agencies.

Of the 31 AES trainees, eight are women and 23 are men, while among the 84 SIS trainees, 24 are women and 60 are men, reflecting increasing female representation in the department’s ranks.

Officials said the training is expected to play a key role in strengthening field operations, ensuring better enforcement of excise laws, and equipping the new officers with the practical and administrative skills required for their future postings.
