Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal on Friday (October 31, 2025) announced that all welfare schemes declared by the State government would come into effect from November 1. He said that an order to that effect had already been issued.

The Minister was inaugurating the Women Investor’s Meet organised by the Kasaragod district panchayat and the District Industries Centre at Kanhangad.

Mr. Balagopal said loans of up to ₹50 crore would be provided at reduced interest rates for setting up convention centres and urged women to utilise the ‘Work Near Home’ scheme to start enterprises close to their residences.

He added that 62 lakh people would benefit from welfare pensions, including 32 lakh women, while five lakh youth would receive scholarships. “The welfare schemes are designed so that each household receives assistance of up to ₹7,000,” he said.

Women entrepreneurs P.K. Uma, T.K. Sreelatha, and M.T. Sujatha were felicitated. The event was presided over by MLA E. Chandrasekharan.
