V.K. Saraswat, NITI Aayog member and former director general of the Defence Research and Development Organisation, has underscored the need for indigenous scientific and engineering advancements.
Delivering the foundation day lecture at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research – Thiruvananthapuram (IISER Thiruvananthapuram), Dr. Saraswat described them as important for achieving the aims of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.
IISER Thiruvananthapuram celebrated its 17th Foundation Day on October 30. Institute director J.N. Moorthy and Aravind Natu, chairperson of the board of governors, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, also spoke.
