In a video released on Wednesday (September 10, 2025), Nirdesh Agarwal, a resident of Chhatarpur, said that his fellow travellers and he have been stranded in a hotel since Monday (September 8, 2025) and that the group includes five children.

“Nobody is safe here, including the police and politicians. The protestors have also looted the weapons from the Army. Prisoners have also been made to flee from jails, and a very violent protest took place. We are only thinking how to leave from here,” he said, while requesting Mr. Modi to bring them back.

Another tourist said that the hotel they are staying in has run out of food supplies and it is getting difficult to obtain food and water.

“There is some peace today, but the market is completely closed. A hotel owner gave us food from behind closed shutter,” he said, in another video, highlighting that stepping out even for essential items is dangerous despite the Nepal Army taking control of the area.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Yadav said, “I have come to know that members of some families from Chhatarpur district are in Nepal. Concerned for their well-being, I have issued instructions to the concerned officials. Efforts are being made to ensure their safe return to India by coordinating with the officials of the Government of India. In this hour of crisis, we are fully committed to providing every possible assistance to our citizens with the utmost priority.”

Meanwhile, Chhatarpur Collector Parth Jaiswal and local BJP MLA Lalita Yadav also spoke with some of the stranded members of the group and assured all possible help for their safe return.
