Continuing investigations into the gang rape case, the Madanayakanahalli police detained three more persons who were allegedly part of the gang which barged into the house of a 26-year-old beautician and assaulted her and her family members, before raping her at her house in Gangondanahalli on Tuesday .

The police arrested three of the accused within a few hours, while three more have been detained for questioning. However the prime accused in the case is on the run and efforts are on to track him down, C.K., Baba Superintendent of Police, supervising the investigation, said.

The victim alleged in the complaint that the accused barged into the house posing as police informers accusing the victim and her family of running illegal activities. The victim was living with her family, including a woman, her son and two men. Blaming the victim of running a prostitution racket and peddling ganja, the accused demanded ₹1 lakh in cash, she alleged.

Three among the accused later dragged the victim to a adjacent house also belonging to the victim and allegedly raped her, and assaulted the other family members and locked them in the washroom. The accused robbed two mobile phones, cash ₹25,000 and also video recorded their act, she alleged. One of the victims managed to call the police control room and reported the incident.
