A final year Engineering student, G. Aravind (22), reportedly ended his life due to financial problems in his room at Mylavaram in NTR district on Wednesday.

A native of Jangareddygudem mandal in Eluru district, Aravind was studying at a private college and was reportedly addicted to online betting and had lost huge sums of money. Unable to bear the financial burden, he ended his life in his room.

Following a complaint, the police registered a case under Section 194 BNS and took up investigation, said Mylavaram Circle Inspector (CI) D. Chandrashekar. (Persons having suicidal thoughts may ‘Dial 100’ for assistance).
