National Medical Commission sanctions 17 postgraduate seats for Alappuzha Medical College in Kerala

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 17 new postgraduate (PG) seats in Government Medical College, Alappuzha, Kerala. The approval allows admission to these seats starting from the current academic year.

With more PG doctors joining clinical departments, patients in the outpatient departments and wards will receive treatment even in the absence of senior doctors.

Department and newly allotted seats: General Surgery (2 seats), Ophthalmology (3), Orthopaedics (3), Venereology and Dermatology (1), Community Medicine (2), Pathology (1), Transfusion Medicine (1), Anesthesiology (2), General Medicine (1) and Pharmacology (1).

Apart from Government Medical College, Alappuzha, the NMC has approved new PG seats for Government Medical College, Kannur (15), Government Medical College, Ernakulam (15), Government Medical College, Kollam (30), Government Medical College, Kozhikode (2) and Malabar Cancer Centre (2).
