Yogi Vemana University (YVU) Vice-Chancellor Bellamkonda Rajasekhar has announced steps to transform the varsity into an institute of excellence, by unleashing its full potential.

Established in 2006 to cater to the educational needs of rural and backward pockets of Rayalaseema, the varsity today boasts of well-qualified regular faculty members, an impressive number of research publications and a vibrant research ecosystem.

Prof. Rajasekhar, who has recently taken over the reins of the varsity, addressed his maiden media conference here on Tuesday, when he unveiled a comprehensive strategic plan, with emphasis on skill enhancement for better placements, career counselling, society-university linkage, university-industry linkage, besides introduction of job-oriented programmes like Data Science, AI, Business Analytics, Quantum Computing.

The university is riding the crest of bagging the ‘A’ grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), getting into the NIRF’s 51-100 rank band and getting research grants worth ₹20 crore under Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA). Also, the YVU has received ₹10 crore under Anusandhan National Research Foundation – Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (ANRF-PAIR).

“Our ultimate goal is to secure the globally-competitive ‘Institute of Excellence’ tag”, said Prof. Rajasekhar.

Registrar P. Padma, IQAC Director L. Subramanyam Sharma and PR Cell Director P. Saritha took part.
