Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday (October 21, 2025) directed the Nagarkurnool Superintendent of Police to conduct a detailed inquiry into the alleged custodial torture of Ch. Balaraju by the Kollapur police of the district.

The Judge directed the SP to furnish a detailed report by November 06 along with the CCTV footage of Kollapur police station from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 17. The petitioner Balaraju alleged that he went to the police station to register a complaint against the family members of G. Kurmayya, who abused and attacked him for dumping gravel on his land.

Instead of issuing a First Information Report based on his complaint, SI Rishikesh and constables Jayaraju and Ghouse detained and subjected him to third degree methods, his counsel said.
