Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday (October 21, 2025) said the J&K Police “kept the tricolour flying high even at the cost of their own life”. He was speaking on the occasion of the Police Commemoration Day at the Police Memorial in Zeewan, Srinagar.

Mr. Sinha said, “The J&K Police is epitome of duty, discipline, loyalty and selfless service. Our brave J&K Police personnel have always prioritized the nation’s development and lives of their fellow citizens above their own.”

“The deep love for the Tricolour is a fundamental reason for our brave J&K Police personnel to serve the motherland and make sacrifices,” he added.

He also recalled the glorious legacy of the police personnel “whose supreme sacrifices are inspiring future generations to serve and uphold the values of our great country”.

“The J&K Police need to always be ready to eliminate terrorist threats,” the L-G said.

He aslo underlined the need to adopt innovation and smart technology to strengthen policing for “an effective response to new crime trends, drug smuggling, and false narratives in Jammu and Kashmir”.

Meanwhile, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also paid homage at the Police Martyrs Memorial on the occasion. The commemoration ceremony was also attended by several Members of the Legislative Assembly, who joined in laying wreaths as a mark of respect to the fallen heroes.

In Jammu, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bhim Sen Tuti said security forces were carrying out around 120 anti-terrorist operations to ward off terror attacks.

“Around 120 counter-terrorist operations are launched in the Jammu zone every day. This is our daily duty, whether it is a speculative operation or a precise information-based operation, it is ongoing. Fighting terrorism is an important part of their duties,” IGP Tuti said.

Terming foreign terrorists as “a major challenge” in the past two years, IGP Tuti said the counter-terrorism grid along with border vigil have been strengthened in Jammu.

“Soon, we will be able to deal with the foreign terrorists hiding in forest areas and neutralise them,” he added.
