Hyderabad Parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday (November 17, 2025) expressed deep anguish about the tragedy in Saudi Arabia, in which several pilgrims from Hyderabad are reported to have been killed in a bus accident in that country.

Mr. Owaisi said he has spoken to officials of the Ministry of External Affairs including the Deputy Chief of Mission Abu Mathen George to provide necessary assistance in connection with those affected.

Mr. Owaisi said he has also written written to Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar seeking his intervention.

“He also said out that two travel agencies from Hyderabad had made travel arrangements for the pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. They too have been contacted,” he said.

Details from these two agencies have been gathered, a list has been sent to government officials both at the State and Centre. Mr. Owaisi sought immediate relief for all those affected by the tragedy.

Mr. Owaisi told The Hindu that apart from relief, the priority is to get the bodies back to Hyderabad. He says that he is making efforts to intervene and expedite the issue. Both Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General have been spoken to.
