Former child actor found dead in Payyannur in Kannur

Hari Murali, 27, from Annur, near Payyannur, in Kannur, who gained attention as a child actor in Malayalam films, was found dead at the house of a relative on Thursday morning (March 12, 2026).

According to the police, though relatives rushed him to a private hospital in Payyannur, his life could not be saved.

Hari Murali, popularly known as Appus, had appeared as a child actor in the film Rasigan alongside Dileep and in Annanthampi, starring Mammootty, earning recognition among audience. He also appeared in several films, including Madambi and Don and in the serial Kuttichathan. After a break from acting, he appeared in Amar Akbar Anthony, directed by Nadirshah.

Hari Murali had completed his graduation in Visual Effects and Animation from Bengaluru and was working at a company in Ernakulam and had returned to his native place a few days ago.

He was the son of theatre actor Payyannur Murali and Prasanna. Sree Murali is his brother.

The Payyannur police have conducted the inquest and shifted the body to the mortuary for further procedures.
